How to Connect to eduroam (Wi-Fi) for Personally Owned Devices

Summary

This is a guide for faculty, staff, and students to configure eduroam on personally owned devices. eduroam is a worldwide Wi-Fi network for academic and research institutions, available at over 38,000 locations worldwide.

Body

Overview

Use of geteduroam or the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT), as appropriate for your device, provides the easiest path to setting up a secure eduroam connection. The IT Help Desk may ask you to repeat this process to assist with any issues you experience, to verify that your device has the latest configuration. Use of the appropriate configuration tool for your device represents Tennessee Tech's supported method of configuring an eduroam connection on personally owned devices.

Tennessee Tech community members are encouraged to use the geteduroam app or the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) to reapply the eduroam configuration profile before the start of each semester. These tools can also be used at any time after setup to update your connection configuration. This includes updating the connection information after changing the password on your university account.

Before you get started

You will need a non-eduroam Internet connection to complete the initial setup of eduroam.

The eduroam connection may be configured before arriving on campus or completed using the TTU-Guest Wi-Fi network once on campus.  Additionally once setup users of the eduroam network will get the additional benefit of access in over 10,000 other eduroam participating locations.
