Why Would I Need to Reset My Cache?
Browsers store (cache) webpages to speed up the loading of frequently-visited websites. While this is normally helpful, it creates problems when websites are modified or moved. This article provides steps for bypassing the browser's cache to load an updated webpage.
Hard Refresh in Google Chrome
- For PCs: After navigating to the webpage, press CTRL-Shift-R on your keyboard to initiate the hard reload. If you are prompted to "Confirm Form Resubmission," click Continue.
- For Macs: After navigating to the webpage, press ⌘ CMD-Shift-R on your keyboard to initiate the hard reload. If you are prompted to "Confirm Form Resubmission," click Continue.
Hard Refresh in Safari
- For Macs: After navigating to the webpage, empty the browser cache by pressing Opt-⌘ CMD-E on the keyboard, then click the refresh button in the browser address bar.
Hard Refresh in Microsoft Edge
- For PCs: After navigating to the webpage, press CTRL on your keyboard and click the refresh button in the browser address bar to initiate the hard reload. If you are prompted to "Confirm Form Resubmission," click Continue.
- For Macs: After navigating to the webpage, press ⌘ CMD-Shift-R on your keyboard to initiate the hard reload. If you are prompted to "Confirm Form Resubmission," click Continue.
