Overview

This article reviews the process of making copies and emailing scanned documents using the Learning Commons printers.

  1. Making a copy
  2. Scanning a Document
    1. Scanning multiple documents with feeding tray
    2. Scanning multiple 2-sided documents
    3. Swap from 2-sided back to single-sided

Making a Copy

  1. The first thing that needs to be done regarding scanning is to properly orient the document that needs to be scanned. The proper orientation for a normal sized piece of paper is the top of the document is pointed toward the back of the printer, and the document needs to be on the far left side of the scanning area, as seen in the image.

  3. Make sure your student email is selected, and then press the green button.
  4. Sometimes the scanned document can be sent to your spam, so be sure to check there if it doesn't automatically go to your inbox.

Scanning multiple documents with feeding tray

  1. If the student wants to scan multiple documents, then the feeding tray may be a better option. To use the feeding tray, place the documents in the feeding tray in a "Face-Up" format. If the green light is on, then the copier knows that there is paper.

Scanning multiple 2-sided documents

  1. By default, the copier will scan in a single-sided format, unless designated. If you want to scan multiple sheets that are double-sided, you may want to use the feeding tray to scan them in. Make sure that the paper is loaded "Face-Up" and the green light is on, as show in the prior steps. Then after pressing "Scan and Send" but before pressing the green start button, make sure that the 2-Sided settings are set. If the icon is not yellow, then it will be scanning in a single-sided format.

  2. If you want a 2-sided format, press "2-Sided Original" and then select the proper option. "Book Type" will normally be what you desire. Then, press "OK".

Swap from 2-sided back to single-sided

  1. If you want to swap back from 2-sided to single-sided, then press on "2-Sided Original" and press "Cancel Settings".

  2. Confirm that you are in single-sided, by viewing that "2-Sided Original" is no longer yellow.
